Some courses require assignments to be completed during the summer. This is especially true of AP courses where the preparation work may be extensive. Teachers provide this work to students before the close of school in June.
Each summer, a book is chosen for the entire school to read. This all-school read has broad themes and can be applied to a range of subjects. In the summer of 2021, we have chosen “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” by Mark Haddon. This extraordinary book takes us on a journey of discovery with Christopher, a young man with autism. On the first day of school, students will spend time in small groups working with teachers to discuss the themes of this story. Students will have the opportunity to talk about how seeing the world through Christopher’s eyes can inspire them to recognize the unique perspective through which we all see the world.
